Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor is all set to make her Bollywood debut soon. The 21-year-old actress is currently busy promoting her upcoming film ‘Dhadak’ which is slated for release on July 20. Though the actress is happy and excited about her first release, she is also sad about her mother not being with her to witness it. Janhvi lost her mother just a few months before the release of her film.
Jahnvi is focused to make her parents proud now. However, Janhvi is often compared to her mother Sridevi. Often, people call her the carbon copy of her mother. And now, when her film will hit the screens, it will be obvious for people to compare her acting too with that of Sridevi’s.
However, she is not afraid of comparisons, instead, she takes it as a responsibility and a source of motivation. She says, “Some people pay heed to comparisons and they have these expectations but mom had been given and she’s still given so much love and adulation, respect because she earned that and she gave the audiences so much to deserve that kind of love. I feel a sense of responsibility towards her fans. I want to make them happy and I want to earn the same kind of love. I know I need to work hard for it but it motivates me”.
She further said that her mother never wanted her to be an actress. On this, she says, “I think she was worried about the comparisons because she kept saying ‘You know I have done 400 films, This is your first but they’ll compare you to my 400th film on your first.”
She further said, But, I always said things like ‘no, I love acting mumma, I’ll work hard I promise’ .”
Janhvi has many a time revealed that Sridevi never wanted her to become an actress. The ‘Dhadak’ actress told that her mother wanted her to become a doctor instead. On this, she says, “When I was a kid, I remember she really wanted me to become a doctor. I don’t know why I used to tell her ‘I am sorry mom, I don’t have the intellect to do these things. I’ll become an actress but don’t worry I’ll play a doctor’ “.
